“The Burning of Judas” Sunday of Resurrection

Sunday, April 1 is the last day of holy week in Mexico and in many places including San Miguel de Allende there is a very particular tradition that takes place in the Jardin at 1:00 pm.

This is the “burning of the Judases” , papier mache figures of Judas, political figures and others whom the people despise.

This is an ancient tradition brought over from Spain to teach the people about Judas´ betrayal of Christ
