Casa del Mundo, Hidden behind a century-old mesquite door on a quiet, friendly callejón (lane or narrow street) in the central historical district, Casa del Mundo is ideally located just a few minutes’ walk from the main Jardín. This comfortable, Mexican colonial-style home features two bedrooms (one with king bed, the second with two twins), four and a half baths, five fireplaces, traditional terracotta floor tiles and 10-12 foot ceilings that are either bóveda (arched) or fashioned from tejamil (wood strips) and beams. On the ground floor, cantera-columned living and dining rooms flow into a covered outdoor sala (living room) with fireplace and wet bar and a lushly planted patio with a custom stone fountain. The sala connects to a cozy study with a pull-out couch, full bath, fireplace and 50-inch, Shaw Cable-equipped flat-screen television. Just off the dining room, a fully stocked gourmet kitchen features a center island cook top, corner fireplace, two sinks and an eat-in area. (A large local market is just a few blocks away, and Casa del Mundo’s six-day-a-week housekeeper will be happy to cook you breakfast or lunch.) The master bedroom suite, with fireplace and attached bath, overlooks a shaded front patio with a soothing fountain. Across the hall, the twin-bedded guest room comes with its own full bath, walk-in closet and restful views over the back patio. Rounding out the second floor is a laundry room with bath and a light-filled exercise room. Casa del Mundo’s relaxing rooftop terrace offers 360-degree views of San Miguel, including the surrounding mountains and La Iglesia de la Concepción (commonly called “Las Monjas,” or The Nuns). With both covered and open seating areas, the rooftop features numerous plantings and flowers plus dining table, refrigerator and wet bar – the ideal spot to celebrate the end of another perfect day in this UNESCO World Heritage city Amenities Included
